Without Change, There'd Be No Butterflies...

I once heard a saying that says, "Without change, there'd be no butterflies." For some reason I always liked this, as cheesy as it was.

All of my life, I have feared change. I get very uncomfortable making changes because I have a hard time adjusting to new situations (ie: making new friends, learning new neighborhoods, adjusting to different isles in the grocery store, you get the idea...). Despite this, I knew that it was only through change that I would eventually be the person God wanted me to be.

So I set out on the never ending journey to fight my natural tendencies of becoming complacent. I never wanted to become too comfortable because I become stagnant in my personal growth. When I was in my early twenties, I took this as an opportunity to fulfill my bucket list ideas, like skydiving, owning a motorcycle (although I could barely ride it..), traveling, etc. As I've gotten a little older, I've tried to be a little more prayerful about it :)

Recently, God's yet again open doors for new changes within Dave and my lives, so I wanted to share some of these things with you. Last Feb., Dave and I decided we wanted to start trying for a baby. Months and months went by, but still nothing. So, we decided God was giving us additional prep time to spiritually prepare for children by giving us time to start changing ourselves by setting our priorities a little more in order. We went back to the basics of consistent prayer, scripture study, FHE, temple attendance, and all the other things we know we should be doing but just never got around to it as often.

We soon found changes we didn't expect. We were happier, the spirit was stronger in our home, we felt a greater peace about our future and more! During this time, a few unexpected challenges appeared at my work which caused us some concern. Then, out of the blue, I was approached by my old job in Salt Lake. They offered me a great opportunity I couldn't pass up, providing us the security and income Dave and I needed. I was still hesitant about commuting again, but we moved forward with faith. The day I put in my 2 weeks, Dave received a call from a past coworker offering him a job in Draper! It was a job that would allow him to work until his full-time accounting position starts next fall, whereas his current job would have ended when he graduated in April. This meant it was easier for us to move halfway to split the commute. Things were falling into place like we never expected.

But, we still were still patiently waiting for a baby to become a reality in our lives. Right before I accepted my final offer, I decided to take one pregnancy test just to confirm I wasn't pregnant just so there was no question when I began working. To both our surprise, it came back POSITIVE! I was pregnant and I didn't know even know it! And then, to my even bigger surprise, my company I was going back to work for was excited, supportive and even comfortable with me working part-time and from home after the baby comes.

So within a matter of a few weeks, our lives have been drastically changed!! We are in the process of moving to West Jordan, Dave and I have both started new jobs now and I'm 12 wks along and due on June 24th! It's such a fun, but crazy time of life (thus the disappearance from here for a little bit). But we really feel that God is leading us to where we are supposed to be for our little family, as well as shaping us to who we are to be.

Thank you my amazing sisters for all the love and support. Every time I come to our blog, I am so impressed and strengthened by each of you. I love you all and will keep you posted on my next experience I'm working on since I haven't started another after my knowledge one on temples. Have a wonderful week!!
