I am so excited to do this with you guys! This week has been one of the toughest times within my marriage. More than ever I have learned how susceptible our homes are and how we must fight to protect them and fight to increase our testimonies. I feel so strongly that for me, this is the answer to some sincere prayers. I look forward to learning and growing with you!
Before we start, wanted to share a couple of thoughts from the intro today that really stood out to me:
"As you learn to accept and act upon the Young Women values in your life, you will form personal habits of prayer, scripture study, obedience to the commandments, and service to others. These daily person habits will strengthen your faith in and testimony of Jesus Christ."
"...Prayerfully choose goals that will help you cultivate feminine attributes, strengthen your testimony and reach your divine potential." (love that it says feminine!)
"Take advantage of your time in Young Women by preparing to receive the sacred ordinances of the temple, to become a faithful wife and mother, and to strengthen your home and family." (Feel this is more applicable then ever!)
Uses 8 values to help us understand more fully who we are, why we are here, and what we should be doing as a daughter of God.
Guidelines
-complete six experiences (three req'd and three elective) and one ten-hour project for first 7 of the YW values.
-for value of virtue, complete 4 req'd experiences and the req'd project of reading the entire Book of Mormon
Value Experiences
-recommended complete req'd experiences before electives
- can make up to two of our own elective experiences per value or adapt the ones provided to fit our goals & interests
Value Projects
-complete experiences before the ten-hour project, except for reading Book of Mormon, can start that at any time
-each project minimum of ten-hours
Pacing & Recognition
-complete at least one experience per month and one project every six months (two projects per year)
-can share experiences at Young Women in Excellence (just proposing an idea, but think we should have our own "Women in Excellence" :) )
-record testimony of Jesus Christ when completed
I think to start, we should write in our journal our testimony and why we think this will be beneficial. I think we should set some goals on what we want to achieve and also some deadlines on when we want it finished (mostly because I don't think it will take us a month to do each experience). What say ye ladies!?
I am really excited to start this journey with you. I know this will become not only a real bonding time in our friendships with one another, but a chance to improve our relationships within our marriages, our families, our Savior, and our Father.
I love you both and can't wait to get this started!!
